Back to School Night in Gym
We ask that all parents attend this very important event in order to prepare for this school year. It starts at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.
Volunteers Make The Difference
“Have you seen the computer lab?” “How about all of the new paint?” It is hard not to notice the wonderful things that took place over the summer. Even the students noticed as they walked through the doors this week! With the generous time and amazing talent of Henry Silvestri, Stan Ring, John Anderson, Cecil Wehr, and Don Boucher, technology will be much easier for our Saints! Preschoolers through grade 6 will have individualized space for their laptops, as well as dividers to help them stay focused. A group of volunteers spent hours painting the walls in all of the classrooms and hallways on the second floor, and did touch up painting on the lower level and the lunchroom area. Thanks to Dan Blomgren, Jackie Eastland, Kurt Dallman, the Larkin family, John Stephens, Don Cushing, Ann Bruemmer, Theresa Wyle, Terri Tucker, Bonnie Schlarb, and Patrick Brown and his crew. We are blessed to have an amazing parish community who gives so freely of their time and talent.

We have fresh paint on the second floor, new PolyVision eno® boards installed in the Kindergarten and 2nd grade rooms, and a new playground will soon be in place. In addition to the facilities improvements to our school, we have a few new staff members to welcome to our family:

New Faces
The 2010-2011 school year will bring some new faces in our building. Maria Thompson will be assisting Elaine Fowler with the Preschool in the mornings, and Jen Hare has been hired to assist in the afternoons. We are thankful to offer both morning and afternoon sessions of Preschool, and are pleased that only a few opening remain! Janette Smith just moved back to the Lawrence area and will be helping part-time in the school. All three are mother’s of Saints and are active members of the Corpus Christi community. Welcome!
The Big Bazoohley is Coming
August 30th is the kick-off of the first of our two fundraisers of the year! The Big Bazoohley, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual, Jayhawk Financial, is a raffle with a chance to win $10,000! Each student, teacher, and staff member (yes, even Fr. Mick and Mrs. Mattern!) are responsible for selling a book of 10 tickets at $10 each. Each family has agreed to participate in this fundraiser and the Donum Fidei Auction in the Spring, and we count on this to meet our budget. Please join our effort! Start talking to your neighbors, aunts and uncles, and co-workers and get ready to sell! Our goal this year is to sell 5,100 tickets! If you know of someone who would like to be a Gold ($1,000) or Silver ($500) sponsor, have them contact Trish Arnold at trisha@corpuschristilks.org. We hope to have enough sponsors to meet our $11,000 in expenses ($10,000 prize and small prizes for the students).
